The bomber struck shortly after noon in the small town of Radekiv, 70 kilometers (30 miles) from Lviv, the capital of western Ukraine.
“Until now, we have no information about victims,” he said.
A reporter for the French News Agency in Lviv reported that the air defense sirens sounded.
Far from the front lines of the conflict, Lviv (and western Ukraine in general) has not been a frequent target of Russian bombing since the start of the war on 24 February.
On March 26, however, Lviv suffered a series of Russian strikes, two of which damaged a fuel tank and injured five people, according to local authorities.
Eight days earlier, an aircraft repair factory was hit without any casualties, according to the mayor. On March 13, Russian missiles struck a large military base about 40 kilometers northwest of Lviv, killing at least 35 people and wounding 134 others.
Close to the Polish border, Lviv became a refuge for thousands of displaced people and at the beginning of the war hosted many embassies of Western countries relocating from Kyiv, as well as a stopover for thousands of refugees fleeing to Europe.
