Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said he has ordered the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to prepare a “comprehensive plan” to defeat Hamas in the Gaza Strip in the event of a resurgence of war.
Katz gave the order during a meeting today with Army Chief Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir and other top officers.
According to Katz’s office, he ordered “the development of a plan for the complete defeat of Hamas in Gaza if it refuses to implement President Trump’s plan and hostilities need to resume.”
The statement noted that “under Trump’s plan, Hamas must hand over all dead hostages in its possession and disarm, while Israel, together with the US-led international force, will undertake the destruction of all of the organization’s tunnels and infrastructure in Gaza so that it does not pose a threat to the State of Israel.”
“If Hamas refuses to implement the agreement, Israel, in coordination with the US, will return to the fighting and act for the complete defeat of Hamas, to change the reality in Gaza and achieve all the goals of the war,” Katz’s office added.
