Hamas handed over another hostage’s body to Israel on Monday night, via the Red Cross.
The coffin of the dead hostage, accompanied by troops of the Israel Defense Forces, crossed the border with the State of Israel a while ago and is on its way to the National Forensic Institute, where the identification procedures will be carried out, the IDF officially announced, while the delivery of the body was also confirmed by the office of Benjamin Netanyahu.
Representatives of the Israel Defense Forces accompany the families.
“The Israel Defense Forces urges the public to act with sensitivity and wait for official identification, which will be shared first with the families of the dead hostages.” emphasized in the announcement.
The coffin containing the hostage’s body is being taken by police to the Abu Kabir forensic institute in Tel Aviv for identification, a process officials said could take up to two days.
If the body is confirmed to be a hostage, the bodies 15 dead hostages will now remain in Gaza.
The Israeli prime minister pointed out earlier, addressing the plenary session of the Knesset that “we must bring the murdered hostages to our country, until the last one.”
“No one needs to remind us of the importance of the sacred mission of returning the murdered hostages”noted the Israeli prime minister. “Heywe’ve been working non-stop, including the meeting I had just before I got here,” he said, a possible reference to his meeting with top White House advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
