The State Department her Turkey commented, through an announcement, on the advisory opinion issued today by International court (ICJ) regarding Israel’s obligation, under it International Lawto facilitate delivery humanitarian aid at Gauze.
According to Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairsthe opinion of the ICJ “clearly demonstrates Israel’s violations of the law in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, which are contrary to its international obligations”.
As indicated in the announcement, “the advisory opinion of the ICJ showed that Israel’s ongoing crimes against the Palestinian people, as well as the obstruction of the delivery of humanitarian aid and the targeting of UN facilities and personnel, in violation of its international obligations, constitute a violation of the international legal order”.
The Turkish Foreign Ministry adds that “the Court’s opinion further confirms that the Israeli government’s efforts to undermine the mandates, activities and presence of the UN and the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the occupied territories are illegal”.
Finally, the announcement highlights how “Turkey contributed to the proceedings before the International Court of Justice with written and oral statements”while assuring that “will continue to stand by the Palestinian people in their just struggle and will resolutely support efforts for the effective implementation of International Law and the restoration of Justice”.
