A US B-1B bomber flew over the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Venezuela on Thursday, according to air traffic control data, in the second such show of force in recent days as US President Donald Trump ordered military operations that he says are aimed at cracking down on drug trafficking into his country.
The flight, denied by the US president, took place as the Caracas complains that a targeted campaign is underway to destabilize the government of President Nicolas Maduro.
According to the specialized website FlightRadar24bomber of the type made a flight towards the coast of Venezuela, before turning around.
“That’s a lie”assured the Donald Trump asked during an event at the White House about the flight, however, he added that the US is “dissatisfied with Venezuela for many reasons.”
Last week, a pair of B-52 bombers based in the continental US made an hours-long flight near the coast of Venezuela.
THE Donald Trump ordered the deployment of state-of-the-art fighter jets and warships in the region as part of what he presents as operation against drug trafficking.
After a series of strikes against speedboats that Washington believed were transporting drugs to the Caribbean, the US military expanded the campaign to the Pacific this week.
Overall, the US has announced nine blows of the kind from September, with at least 37 dead.
The legality of the businesses, however, is disputed by experts.
The campaign also sharply increased the tension between the government Trump and to the president of Colombia Gustavo Petro.
