Marine Le Pen has closed the gap with Emanuel Macron in one percentage point in view of Sunday’s first round of the presidential elections in France, according to the latest poll on behalf of the television network BMF.

Their difference in the second round is now only 2%.

This is a development that confirms in the most dramatic way the trend of the last few days in favor of closing the gap, French commentators note.

In particular, in the first round, Mr. Macron now has 26% of the vote intention, a percentage reduced by two percentage points compared to the previous corresponding poll on Tuesday, while Ms. Le Pen has won two points reaching 25%.

In the second round, President Macron stands at 51%, again losing two percentage points and the leader of the National Coalition rises to 49%, strengthened by 2%.

The percentage of the left Jean-Luc Melanson in the first round also increases, which rises to 17.5%, while the percentage of the extreme right Eric Zemour decreases marginally to 8.5%.
