A Palestinian was killed today by Israeli troops in the southern part of the occupied West Bank, the Palestinian Ministry of Health said.
She is Gada Sabatin, a 40-year-old widow and mother of six, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said the woman had succumbed to her injuries sustained by Israeli soldiers near Hussein.
The Israeli army confirmed that it had opened fire “on the lower part of the body” of the woman, saying that it was aimed at the soldiers in a “suspicious” way despite the “warning shots”.
It received first aid from soldiers on the spot before being received by the Palestinian Red Crescent, the Israeli military said in a statement, adding that it had ordered an investigation into the case.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, the woman was seriously injured on arrival at the Beit Jala hospital near Bethlehem, where she died after losing “a lot of blood”.
Israeli forces are conducting an operation in the northern part of the occupied West Bank following an attack that killed three people in Tel Aviv on Thursday night and was carried out by a Palestinian from the Jenin refugee camp.
