Italy has confiscate real estate worth about 105 million euros ($ 114.45 million) owned by Former Russian Formula 1 driver Nikita Dmitrievich Mazepin and his oligarch father, two police sources told Reuters on Monday.
The operation targeted a villa – known as Rocky Ram – located in the north of the island of Sardinia. It is part of a wider effort to punish wealthy Russians linked to President Vladimir Putin following Moscow’s February 24 invasion of Ukraine.
There was no immediate comment from Mazepin’s public relations officer.
Mazepin – who was fired in March by the American team F1 Haas – has been included in an EU sanctions list along with his father, Dmitry, which the Official Journal of the European Union described as a member of President Vladimir Putin’s inner circle.
In recent weeks, Italian police seize villas and yachts worth more than 900 million euros from wealthy Russians which were included in European Union sanctions lists after the conflict in Ukraine.
The most valuable asset seized so far is a superyacht owned by him billionaire Andrey Igorevich Melnichenkoworth about 530 million euros, which was seized in the northern port of Trieste.
