Brazilian President Zaich Bolsonaro downgraded the market uproar on Wednesday “About 50,000 pills” Viagra for the armyaccusing the media of “bad faith” after the war and gloom on social networking sites.
“Almost 30,000 pills were bought for the army, 10,000 for the navy and I do not remember how many for the air force, but somewhere around 50,000 in total. “Honestly, this is nothing,” the head of state said after a breakfast with evangelical pastors at the Alvorada presidential palace.
The far-right president described the amount of pills as insignificant, “given that it concerns all three bodies and that they are mainly used by retirees”.
He then reiterated the argument used by the Ministry of Defense on Monday, that the army “buys Viagra to treat high blood pressure and rheumatic diseases.”
On Monday, center-left politician Elias Vas unveiled an order from the Ministry of Defense for 35,000 Viagra pills, referred to as “sildenafil pills” in official documents, the active ingredient in Pfizer’s famous erectile dysfunction drug.
On Tuesday, the MP continued the revelations: he brought to light the market 60 silicone implants for peniswhich cost “millions”, as he stylized.
With a unit price of 9,900 to 12,000 euros, these silicone implants, 10 to 25 centimeters long, cost the Brazilian public about 3.5 million reais (688,000 euros), Mr. Vas explained. Through Twitter, he added, addressing his fellow citizens: “and you pay for these”.
Mr. Bolsonarou did not give any explanation yesterday about the purchase of the implants. However, he criticized “the skeptical press that has no idea what it is talking about”.
The revelations sparked dozens of sarcastic comments from social media users, with many referring to “dita-dura,” an untranslatable pun on the dictatorship of generals in Brazil (1964-1985) and the influence of Viagra.
