Putin: Sanctions against Russia’s own goal of the West

by

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Western countries have scored their own goals by imposing sanctions on Russia over the Ukraine issue, which have led to “The deteriorating economy in the West.”

Speaking to top government officials via video link about the state of Russia’s economy, Putin said inflation was stabilizing and that retail demand in the country had normalized.

THE Russia should use its budget to support the economy and liquidity amid shrinking lending activity, even if central bank cuts in lending make borrowing cheaper, it said Monday President Vladimir Putin.

Putin also said that Russia should speed up the process of using national currencies in foreign trade under the new conditions.

Western countries have imposed unprecedented sanctions on Russia’s companies and financial system since it sent troops to Ukraine on February 24 in a “special military operation”, as it calls it.
