Russia is launching a new phase of “special military operation” in Ukraine, as confirmed by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The Russian Foreign Minister predicted that “This will be a significant development.”
“Another stage of this business is starting, and I’m sure it will it will be a very important moment “this whole ‘special operation’,” Lavrov said in an interview with India Today, according to Reuters. This is an indirect report in the Russian attack on Donbas in Eastern Ukraine.
“Russia is not going to change the regime in Ukraine, the Ukrainians have to decide for themselves how to live,” Lavrov said.
However, the Americans consider it unlikely that the Russian attack on Donbas will succeed. The American Institute for the Study of War estimates that the Russian attack on Donbas “is unlikely to be dramatically more successful than previous Russian attacks”, but that Russian forces could “achieve limited gains”.
The Russian forces did not make the “operational break” necessary for the rebuilding and proper integration of the damaged units withdrawn from northeastern Ukraine, the BBC’s think tank said in an assessment.
