The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky said he was ready to meet with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. “I’m always ready to meet him, you only need a place and a date“He said characteristically in an interview with the French television station BFM.
Zelensky also said that he understands that Russia has not yet mobilized all its means. “It could be a tactical decision, there are reasons for concern,” he said
“We are grateful to France for its support. We have received humanitarian and diplomatic assistance and we look forward to military assistance. “I have confidence in France, in your leaders, and we hope to receive these weapons,” Zelenski said.
The President of Ukraine stressed earlier that the forces of his country do not have enough “serious and heavy” weapons to defeat the Russian army in Mariupol.
He described two possible ways to end the conflict in the city of martyrdom: “First, it involves serious and heavy weapons […] at the moment we do not have enough of these weapons to liberate Mariupol. The second way is diplomatic. “So far Russia has not agreed to this,” he said, speaking with European Council President Charles Michel in Kyiv.
Zelensky also said that the “few thousand” Ukrainian citizens who managed to escape from the besieged city of Mariupol through evacuation corridors to the Russian-occupied territories are not currently aware of what happened to them. “Thousands of civilians successfully left Mariupol via corridors agreed with Russia, but” unfortunately a few thousand civilians went to the Russian-occupied territories and we do not know the fate of these thousands of people, “he said.
“Ukraine is” ready for any form of exchange of our people with the Russian soldiers they left behind, the corpses and the wounded they left here, “he said.
THE Volodymyr Zelensky stated that he has not seen or heard anything about the draft with the conditions for the end of the war where the Kremlin says he sent to Kyiv.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov said Moscow expects “an answer” after handing over this document to the Ukrainian side.
In a press conference he gave in Kyiv with the President of the European Council, Zelensky said that Ukraine’s accession to the EU is a “priority” of his country.
“Is priority “for our state, for the power of our people,” said the Ukrainian president.
For his part, Michel assured that the EU would do “everything it can” for Ukraine to “win the war” and noted that the EU has so far provided 1.5 billion euros in military aid to Kyiv.
“You are not alone, we are with you and we will do everything possible to support you and ensure that Ukraine wins the war,” said Michel.
Vladimir Putin “will not succeed in dividing” the EU, Michel also assured, while welcoming the ability of the “27” to make decisions “all together and unanimously” on sanctions against Russia.
