The US Capitol Police (USCP) ordered last Wednesday night (local time; just before 02:00 today Greek time) to immediately evacuate the US Congress headquarters, speaking of a possible threat due to the way the aircraft was moving, however sounded this alarm just minutes later.
“The Capitol was evacuated for precautionary reasons tonight,” but later confirmed that “there is no threat,” the USCP said on Twitter, promising to provide “more information” later.
The number of people in the US House of Representatives was rather limited, as neither the House of Representatives nor the Senate were scheduled to meet.
In the symbolic building of the American Republic, the security measures remain extremely strict after the violent invasion on January 6, 2021 by the supporters of the former Republican President Donald Trump, who aimed to prevent the validation of the electoral victory of the Democratic candidate Joe Ba’s 2020.
Preparations are underway for the smooth return of workers to the building.
