A popular presenter on a Russian state channel resigned, protesting for invasion of Vladimir Putin in Ukraine.
Alexander Gurevich, 57, apologized to viewers for presenting a light video game while Kremlin forces were committing atrocities in Ukraine.
Because of his comments, all episodes of the show were removed from YouTube and he reportedly resigned from state-run Rossiya 1.
“For me it is absolutely impossible to have fun and joke with a background huge tragedy“I do not care what happens,” said Gurevic, adding that his wife’s family had Ukrainian roots.
“My mother-in-law was born in Odessa and lived in Kharkov for a long time. “How would he hear today the information about the death of soldiers, the explosions, that the citizens of Kyiv and Kharkov spend the night on the subway, to escape the war,” he said in a post.
In his post, the TV presenter said that he believed that participants in a game show would not want to take part in a fun show during the war.
