Akar threats to demilitarize islands and armaments: Do not whet your appetite – You will make a big mistake

by

Launching new, direct threats to Athens and restoring the issue on the demilitarization of islandsthe Turkish Minister of Defense, Hulusi Akar, attacked Greece during his speech for the exercise “Blue Homeland”but also in an interview with the Turkish network Haberturk.

«The Treaty of Lausanne says that specific islands must be demilitarized. There is an agreement, everyone agreed and said “yes”. These islands are specific, their name is their coordinates, their locations. You have militarized these islands, 16 of them. They tell us “let’s not talk about it”… But why not? If we are talking about international law, we will start with this issue“, Said Hulusi Akar, while, escalating, he added:

«When these islands are militarized, then no one has the right to speak out against Turkey’s defensive efforts.».

According to the SKAI correspondent in Istanbul, Manolis Kostidisthe Turkish Minister of Defense returned to the aggressive rhetoric and in the aforementioned interview with Haberturk, this time focusing on armaments.

«Greece is trying to create some alliances. But we are already allies in NATO. Also, in an exaggerated way, they promote the armament programs. We say how if these weapons are for their defense they are many, but if they are aimed at Turkey then they are few… Let’s clarify this. Their financial situation is also a given“, He underlined, adding:

«Do not whet their appetite with some speeches, suggestions, pressures, with the EU or with the support of some countries… We tell them that they will make a big mistake. We make it clear that we will not allow anything to be done and we are capable of that».
