An attack on Joe Biden was launched by Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the occasion of Statements by the American President on the Armenian Genocide.
The Turkish President asked Joe Biden “to study and learn the history of Armenia”, while adding that Turkey gives no importance to the recognition of genocide by the US.
He even accused the Armenians of slaughtering Turks at that time.

Joe Biden became the first US president to formally recognize the Armenian Genocide last year, as all his predecessors limited themselves to using the Armenian term Meds Yeghern (Great Destruction).
“Today, 107 years later, the American people continue to honor all Armenians who perished in the genocide,” he said in a message on Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.
As the White House announced this year, “Ottoman authorities arrested Armenian intellectuals and community leaders in Istanbul. Thus began the Armenian Genocide – one of the worst mass atrocities of the 20th century. Today, we remember the 1.5 million Armenians who were displaced, slaughtered or marched to their deaths in a campaign of extermination, and we mourn the tragic loss of so many lives. As we reflect on the Armenian Genocide, we renew our commitment to remain vigilant against the corrosive influence of hatred in all its forms. We are committed again to speak openly and to stop the atrocities that leave permanent scars on the world. And as we mourn the loss of the Meds Yeghern (Great Disaster), let us redouble our efforts to heal and build a better and more peaceful world for our children. “A world where human rights are respected, where the evil of bigotry and intolerance do not characterize our daily lives and where people everywhere are free to go on with their lives with dignity and security.”
