The Russian Ministry of Defense has released a video that appears to show a wounded British man who was captured in Ukraine and is being interrogated by Russian forces.

The man, who says his name is Andrew Hill and speaks a British accent, has his left arm bandaged, a few bandages around his head and blood on his right arm.

“I do not have a grade… “I only know that the legion of foreigners said that I could help”, the man answers the question what is his grade.

The Russian Defense Ministry announced that the man had surrendered to Russian troops in the Mykolaiv area of southwestern Ukraine and that he was carrying a weapon.

The British Foreign Office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The British prisoner told Russian investigators that he was from Plymouth in the south of England, that he had four children and a partner. He said he traveled by his own decision to help Ukraine. Russian soldiers took his passport.

When asked if it is safe, one of the Russians answers: “Yes, you are absolutely safe.”

The Russians said he would receive medical treatment for his injuries, which appear to include a bullet wound.

Russia calls the invasion unleashed on February 24 “Special military operation” claiming that it was done to disarm Ukraine and protect it from the fascists. Ukraine and the West say the allegations of fascist domination are unfounded and that the war is an unprovoked act of aggression.
