Belgium: Investigation into allegations that women were injected with drugs at a party

by

Belgian justice has launched an investigation into drugs today after seven women who took part in a dance party in Rouvroa reported being stung by strangers.

Police have already taken statements from the seven women, four of whom are minors. They all took part in the dance organized on Saturday night by the Youth Club (CDJ) of Dambikur, a village on the outskirts of Luxembourg, near the border with France.

The official reports of the police were submitted today to the Arlon prosecutor’s office, which started a preliminary investigation, according to the spokesperson of the prosecutor’s office, Anne Sophie Gilmo.

“Some of the complainants were taken to hospital, we will certainly have the results of blood or urological tests,” he added.

So far there is no suspect and it has not been determined which banned substance was used. The women mentioned two different ways of acting of the perpetrators. Some said that the day after the dance, they found “a mark” on their body that could indicate a needle piercing. At least one said that she saw something “suspicious” in her drink and thought that they might have thrown “a powder in the glass”.

According to the French radio and television network RTBF, the victims reported various symptoms, such as dizziness, headache, nausea or memory loss.

In France, the night world has been plagued by psychosis since dozens of people in many parts of the country said they had received mysterious “bites” while having fun in nightclubs. Many developed symptoms such as dizziness, nausea and vomiting. About 60 complaints have been made to the police since the beginning of April.
