‘Beergate’: Police investigation into lockdown breach by Labor’s Kir Starmer in Britain

by

London, Thanasis Gavos

The Durham Police Department in the North East of England announced that it would eventually conduct an investigation to determine whether the leader of the Labor Party of the British official opposition Sir Kir Starmer violated the lockdown rules drinking and drinking beer with their partners in an evening meeting last spring.

Mr. Starmer has been photographed from a distance in front of a window at the party offices in the city on April 30, 2021, holding a bottle beer. In the same room can be seen executives of the local organization of Labor.

Sir Kir from the beginning rejected any suspicion about the violation of the rules by saying that the drink and food were ordered from outside during the break of long hours for the upcoming vaccination elections in Hartlipul and that in no case was this gathering a party.

The Labor leader has repeatedly criticized harshly Prime Minister Boris Johnson for the partygatethat is, for parties on Downing Street and in government buildings despite the pandemic ban, a scandal for which Mr Johnson has even paid a fine imposed on him by the Metropolitan Police of London.

In the run-up to yesterday’s general election, however, the ruling party and conservative newspapers have brought the charges against Kir Starmer back to the forefront, questioning whether the curry ordered for about 30 people late that Friday night was just a break and whether this type of gathering was “necessary” for whatever work was being done at the time, as required by law at the time.

The Conservative Party has accused Sir Cyrus, the former chief prosecutor, of “hypocrisy”, while he opposes the ruling party engaging in “mudslinging”.

The police statement acknowledges that in the initial investigation it was not found violation of the ruleshowever, speaks of “important new information” that dictates that new research be conducted.

A Labor Party spokesman responded by saying that he would be happy to answer any questions asked by the police. He insisted that there was no violation of the rules.

The party, however, has been criticized, among other things, for admitting late and after initial denial that the deputy leader of the Labor Party was also present at the rally. Angela Rainer.
