She herself pointed out that he was very scared«because anything could happen at that moment».

The worker filed a lawsuit with the local police station, while her health condition has been shaken as she feared for the health of the pregnant baby.

The announcement of GSEE

It is noted that the case was made known by GSEE a few days ago, noting that a coffee co-owner physically and verbally assaulted the employee.

“Employer immorality holds up well. A co-owner of a cafe company in Larissa attacked an employee, who is pregnant, because she had previously reported him to the Labor Inspectorate for delays in her pay. This unacceptable incident took place yesterday 4/5/2022 night when the 26-year-old, while working, received physical violence from her employer, who, obviously irritated, entered the cafeteria, grabbed her violently by the hand, took her out on the sidewalk, insulted her and pushed her. The incident took place in the presence of spectators.

The employee has already filed a lawsuit with the local police department, while her health condition has already deteriorated due to the risk of pregnancy.
In fact, in the indictment, there is a testimony of an employee in another store – an eyewitness in her favor, who saw the violent incident. “The owner is wanted in the context of the highway but he has not been arrested yet, although his identity is known”, said GSEE.

In the same announcement, he noted that: “GSEE publishes this specific case in order to once again denounce these unacceptable and inhumane practices followed by a portion of employers. We request the timely and effective intervention of the competent authorities for the arrest of the employer in the context of the highway and the protection of the employee. We call once again for public condemnation and immediate measures to eliminate such phenomena, which unfortunately will continue to exist as long as conditions of impunity for the perpetrators prevail.

Such incidents are a disgrace not only to the industries where they occur most often, and to local communities, but to society as a whole, plunging it into the tolerance of misery. Staff shortages found in cutting-edge industries can easily find answers to such employer behaviors. GSEE asks women workers, but also men workers who are victims of harassment and violence at work to turn to their unions for support in claiming their rights. The unions have an obligation to intervene actively and smoothly, both for the protection of the victims and for our partnership in preventing acts of violence.
