Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi met with US President Joe Biden at the White House.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Italian technocratic prime minister underlined: “I am very happy to be here, I want to thank President Biden for the invitation and the hospitality. The relations of our countries (as well as) of the United States with the European Union are particularly strong. “The war in Ukraine has made them even stronger.” “We must use every means for peace, for a ceasefire and for the start of credible negotiations,” he said.
At the same time, Draghi stressed that “in Italy and in Europe, people want to stop these massacres, this violence. “People are interested in what we can do to bring peace.”
“Putin thought he would divide us, but he failed. “What is happening in Ukraine has brought about a drastic change in the European Union, we were close and now we are even closer, and I know we can count on your support, as a sincere friend of the EU and Italy,” he told the US president.
