Nelson de Sá: Twitter now wants Trump, who may not need him anymore

by

In the headline in the Financial Times and others around the world, “Elon Musk says he would reverse Trump’s Twitter ban, calling it ‘morally wrong’.”

When questioned two weeks ago, as soon as the purchase of the platform was confirmed, the former president told Fox News that he would not return to Twitter.

Maybe you don’t need it anymore. Trump has been winning Republican caucuses without the help of Twitter — and without the engagement he had before Fox News.

Significantly, the small right-wing channel Newsmax (above) has just beaten CNN “thanks to a Trump rally”, reports the media website Mediaite.

For two hours last Friday’s prime time, 738,000 watched the broadcast on Newsmax, versus 545,000 on CNN’s regular schedule.

Amid the government’s panic of defeat in the November legislative elections, pro-Democrat presenter Bill Maher warned, on his HBO show:

“The Democrats will be wiped out. And then the 6/1 Commission [invasão do Capitólio] becomes Hunter Biden Commission [sobre emails do filho de Joe].”

BOLSONARO VS. BIDEN

In the Reuters agency, “Bolsonaro plans not to participate in the Summit of the Americas organized by Biden, sources say.” There were two sources, who “did not give the reason”, but the Brazilian “admired Trump and was slow to recognize the victory” of the Democrat. “Bolsonaro and Biden never spoke.”

AMLO VS. BIDEN

Andrés Manuel López Obrador, president of Mexico, Latin America’s second largest economy, is already openly saying that he should not go to the summit, in less than a month, in Los Angeles.

“If not all [os países latino-americanos] are invited, a representation of the Mexican government will go, but I would not,” said AMLO, to the headline of El Universal.

GERMANY FALLS

The Wall Street Journal points out that “German industrial production fell by 3.9% in March” compared to February. A pullback “led by the auto sector, which fell 14% on the month” — with BMW noting lower vehicle deliveries in China.

And German factories will face “new challenges in the coming months”, with the European Union restricting Russia’s oil and gas and raising interest rates to fight “disturbing” inflation.

SCHOLZ & XI & MACRON

German leader Olaf Scholz spoke on Monday with Xi Jinping. The next day, it was Frenchman Emmanuel Macron’s turn to talk to his Chinese colleague.

Xi’s message was one for both, according to headlines in the South China Morning Post: “Europe’s security must be kept in the hands of the Europeans”, that is, not the Americans.
