By canceling the contracts hotels and other service providers in Qatar have threatened the International Football Association (FIFA) if they discriminate against homosexuals this year World Cup. The FIFA ultimatum comes in the wake of a Scandinavian media survey which revealed that same-sex couples were not accepted.
According to Swedish, Danish and Norwegian media research (SVT, DR and NRK networks respectively) hotels in Qatar do not accept homosexuals, with the case provoking international reactions.
The journalistic investigation also found that the hotels had asked customers to modify their behavior during their visit, including one who insisted that patrons should not “dress like homosexuals”.
NRK, SVT and DR has conducted an investigation into the Qatar World Cup Hotels and if they would accept a gay married couple. Out of the 69 which are officially listed: –

Three hotels refused to accept the booking by a gay couple, with one suggesting it would be against the hotel’s policy to do so. Another 20 hotels “Advised” the couple to modify their behavior by avoiding “public expressions of affection” during their stay. While 33 hotels on the suggested list for the World Cup, starting in Qatar on November 21staccepted that the male couple could make a reservation, the survey showed that 1/3 did not or “had concerns”.
FIFA allegedly held emergency talks with Qatari organizations after the publication of the investigation. In a statement, the Federation pledged to “ensure that the listed hotels will be updated again. for our strict requirements in relation to the reception of visitors in a non-discriminatory manner “.
Qatari authorities have made it clear that LOATKI + individuals can book and share rooms during the tournament.
It is recalled, however, that in early April Qatar banned the flags of the LGBTQI community for reasons of “safety in the stadiums of the members of the community themselves “.
