Britain: Conservative MP arrested on rape charges

In the arrest of a ruling MP Conservative Party The Metropolitan Police of London made accusations rape and sexual assault.

The reported offenses were committed by 2002 to 2009 in London.

The statement from Scotland Yard refers to the arrest of a man between the ages of 50 and 59 and adds to the list of charges the obscene attackthe abuse of a position of trust and misconduct in a public office.

The detainee is being held and the investigation into the charges is ongoing.

Conservative party leader Chris Heaton-Harris has asked the unnamed lawmaker to stay out of parliament while the police investigation continues.

For the time being, however, the MP is not made available by the party.

According to the Metropolitan Police, the complaint against the MP was initially made in January 2020.

Weeks ago, the Sunday Times reported that 56 lawmakers are currently facing charges ranging from sexually explicit comments to more serious heinous acts.
