Brazil registered the mark of 1 million systems of own generation of solar energy installed, according to Absolar (Brazilian Association of Photovoltaic Solar Energy).
There are more than 10.6 gigawatts of power on roofs, facades and small plots of homes, businesses and industries.
The sector’s expectation is that its own energy generation will reach the capacity of the Itaipu hydroelectric plant in September. For this, the power of the systems must reach 14 gigawatts.
According to the entity, more than R$ 57 billion were invested in the sector, with 320 thousand jobs created since 2012.
Minas Gerais is the leading state in terms of installed power, followed by São Paulo and Rio Grande do Sul.
