Three new PPP (Public & Private Sector Partnerships) projects with total investment costs EUR 300 million approved today Monday the Interministerial PPP Committee, chaired by Deputy Minister of Development & Investment Nikos Papathanasis.

After the meeting, the Minister of Development and Investment Adonis Georgiadis stated:

“The approval of three new PPP projects with a total budget of 300 million euros confirms the commitment of the Government to use Community funds for the implementation of projects with the partnership of public and private bodies. These projects give impetus to the development and transformation of the Greek economy for the benefit of all society. “Despite the adverse conditions, we continue energetically.”

The President of DESDIT, Deputy Minister of Development and Investment Nikos Papathanasis, stated in this regard:

“Public-Private Partnerships are an important driver of growth and a strategic pillar of government policy. The projects that we approved today as an Interministerial Committee, significantly strengthen the local communities not only through the upgrading of the quality of life of our fellow citizens but also through the creation of new jobs during the construction and during the operation of these important projects. The PPP projects contribute significantly to the modernization of all the Regions of Greece with a new development model that looks to the future “.

The General Secretary of Private Investments and PPPs Orestis Kavalakis stated:

“Today, three new PPP projects were approved: the utilization and development of the Ladopoulos EGL Factory, the construction and operation of the Court of First Instance and the Athens Prosecutor’s Office and the operation and maintenance of the Thessaloniki Metro. The PPP portfolio is enriched with new projects, necessary and very useful for the citizens and the local communities “.

These are the projects:

A. “Operation and maintenance of the Thessaloniki Metro Network with PPP”

The Thessaloniki Metro project, with the contracting authority Attiko Metro SA, is expected to significantly reduce traffic difficulties and upgrade the city’s public transport infrastructure by reducing pollution levels. It will also strengthen the local economy, improve the quality of life and safety of residents and visitors, and create new jobs.

B. “Utilization and Development of the former Ladopoulos Paper Mill (EGL). with PPP »

The project of utilization of the former Ladopoulos Paper Mill with the contracting authority of the Region of Western Greece, envisages the development of a modern, sustainable and technologically advanced building complex that will integrate the historical past of the area and will connect the beach with the urban fabric. This project saves energy resources, serves public needs by creating a Museum, Music School, nursery school, etc. while fully utilizing the existing building potential with tourist facilities, restaurants, exhibition space, etc. The project will be partially funded by of the Recovery and Durability Fund.

C. “Establishment and Operation of the Court of First Instance and the Athens Prosecutor’s Office with PPP”

The project concerns the financing, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the buildings that will house the Court of First Instance and the Athens Prosecutor’s Office with the contracting authority being the Ministry of Justice. The aim is to create functional buildings, to upgrade the quality of the services provided to the citizens and to speed up the procedures for the more efficient operation of the judicial services with the use of modern technologies. The project will be partly funded by the Recovery and Sustainability Fund.

They participated in the Interministerial Committee the Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras, the Minister of Development & Investment Adonis Georgiadis, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Costas Karamanlis, the Minister of State responsible for Coordination of Government Projects Akis Sklissos, the Minister Y. the Deputy Minister of Interior Stelios Petsas, the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy Nikos Tagaras and the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport George Karagiannis.

Also present at the teleconference were the General Secretary of Private Investments and PPPs Orestis Kavalakis, the Regional Governor of Western Greece Nektarios Farmakis and the Authorized Advisor of HRDH Panagiotis Stampoulidis.
