In honor of Preta Gil, killed on Sunday (20), he talks to Bial Reexied on Monday (21) excerpts from two interviews of the singer to the program.

The first excerpts displayed were from an interview in August 2024, when Preta was already treating colorectal cancer and remembered the advice he received from his father, Gilberto Gil, when he was in the ICU, because of a septicemia.

“If it’s being very difficult and if it’s your time, accept,” Gil told her daughter.

Preta told journalist Pedro Bial that he understood, after his father’s speech, that he was at risk of death and reacted.

Bial remembered, at the beginning of the show, that family, friends and fans called the singer “My Black”.

“Each one had his black,” he said. “She surrendered all over.”

In this interview, the artist had just launched her biography. “Preta Gil: The First 50”, whose writing was started in 2018 and completed after starting cancer treatment.

She mentioned the end of the marriage after the discovery of the disease and an extramarital relationship of the then husband, who had lasted six months. Preta took the opportunity to remember that many sick women are abandoned by their companions.

“He didn’t stay with me at the hospital. He would let go and then people came from everywhere. Everyone wants to be with me,” he said. “It’s sad, but it’s a reality for many women.”

In the other interview of 2017, Preta was next to the godmother, the singer Gal Costa, killed in November 2022.

“She has always been very present in my life,” he said. “It’s a second mother. And all her life was an inspiration to me.”

According to Preta, in childhood, she and Moreno Veloso, son of Caetano Veloso, were stuck to Gal.

“I imitated her. I was going to her house and came back with costumes, sequin, made private showers at home, with my bottle.”

Gal remembered the shyness of Black in childhood and the two saw images of the two -year birthday party of Gil’s daughter, who appears on his bridesmaid lap.

She also recalled the shock caused by the cover of her first album. “Black-à-Porter” (2023), in which it appeared naked on the cover and booklet.

For Preta, the reactions were moralistic and fatophobic. “Guys, I love myself. I think I’m beautiful,” he reacted at the time.

The conversation with Bial also showed images of the 1990s show in which Gal Costa sings “Brazil”, by Cazuza, and shows the breasts, directed by Gerald Thomas.

The two were on the program to promote the clip-manifesto “Go Be Benzer”, which recorded together.

“She summoned me. I told Gil and he said: Black is mandona,” Gal revealed about the invitation to the partnership. “She told me a Whatsapp and said, Dinda, this is the song you will record on my album.” The song was a response to intolerance and prejudice that black fought so much.

The two ended their participation in the program Abraçadas and singing “Pearl Negra”, by Luiz Melodia.
