In a panel this Wednesday (25) at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Minister Paulo Guedes (Economy) began his participation by saying that the International Monetary Fund was very wrong in its prediction about Brazil. One of the panelists was the institution’s chief economist, Gita Gopinath.
Realizing that, Guedes was quick. “Wrong, but it wasn’t Gita! It was someone before her,” he told the audience, who smirked.
The minister spent a good part of the presentation saying that the fiscal situation in Brazil was excellent, as well as the prospects for growth, and that inflation will soon be brought under control.
The excitement was noticed by the mediator, journalist Sara Eisen. First, she questioned the exceptionality sold by Guedes.
And when he said he was “very excited” in the debt debate when talking about wind energy, the supply chain, China and unicorns: “That was clear as we ran out of time by ten minutes.”
