Most expensive individual health plan
The ANS (National Supplementary Health Agency) approved this Thursday (26) an annual readjustment of 15.5% for individual and family health plans.
The increase, which is the largest since the current model started in 2000, is effective from May 1, 2022 and April 30, 2023.
What explains: the increase comes after an unprecedented discount last year, when the adjustment was negative at 8.19%. With the advancement of vaccination and the easing of restriction measures, elective surgeries resumed, people went to the doctor more and care expenses increased.
- Individual and family plans account for about 20% of health plan users in the country. There are 8.9 million consumers of this modality.
- The vast majority of users belong to collective plans (business and subscription), which have readjustments negotiated directly between operators and customers. Prices in this type of modality skyrocketed to 133% in this year.
In numbers: according to Fenasaúde, the assistance expenses of the operators grew 24% in 2021 compared to the previous year.
Verticalization is the strategy adopted by large national operators to reduce costs and conquer market. The idea is that institutions take control of all fronts of medical care, such as clinics, laboratories and hospitals.
- A recent move in this direction was made by Rede D’or, the largest hospital network in the country, which bought the insurance company SulAmérica in February for around BRL 15 billion. The deal is still pending approval from regulatory bodies, such as Cade and ANS.

Fazenda Futuro announced this Thursday that the singer Anitta became a partner of the brand after an investment with undisclosed values.
This is not the artist’s first step outside the music world. She joined Nubank’s board of directors last year and will teach entrepreneurship and marketing classes at a university.
The company: Fazenda Futuro offers plant products that simulate the original flavor of proteins, especially beef.
- With operations in 30 countries, it was evaluated in $2.2 billion (R$ 10.6 billion) after an investment round announced in November last year.
plant-based is the model used by companies looking to replicate food from plants. This market has expanded among consumers and startups, but it is also a target of criticism among vegan and vegetarian enthusiasts.
Growing. Companies are moving to conquer a growing audience in the country: the flexitarians.
- These are people who, although they are not vegan or vegetarian, are willing to reduce their consumption of animal protein – as is the case with singer Anitta.
- The founder of Fazenda Futuro, Marcos Leta, told Sheet last year that 95% of consumers of the company’s products are not vegetarians.
Take a break: work vs personal life
- To watch: “Rupture” – on Apple TV+
In a time of consolidation of the home office and hybrid work, many people find it difficult to separate work from personal life when they are at home.
Imagine if you achieved that feat — and you would never again have to worry about delivering a report while watching TV at home or having a love problem while you’re at the office.
Produced and directed by Ben Stiller, the plot follows the daily life at Lumen Industries, a gigantic company that creates a technology capable of turning on or off the parts of the brain related to work and leisure.
Review: Stiller’s allegory seems carved with frightening accuracy, writes columnist Luciana Coelho.
