Panel SA: Rising demand for Rolex heats up luxury thrift store

by

Just as the demand for luxury boats and cars jumped in the pandemic, the demand for Rolex watches has increased the waiting time for a model of the brand in the store.

Sought to talk about the demand queue, Rolex prefers not to comment.

The heating was reflected in the second-hand luxury goods market, which responded with higher prices.

According to Nelson Barros, founder of the site Etiqueta Única, the offer of Rolex watches in the online luxury thrift store has grown.

And turnover is high. Barros says that sports models and made with steel tend to circulate more in the second-hand market, consequently, keeping prices up.

Rarer watches, like the classic Cosmograph Daytona, created for professional racing drivers, are also more expensive.

At the luxury thrift store, the seller chooses the price. According to the Single Tag, the values have ranged from R$10,000 to R$200,000.

“Prices have risen in recent years, because of supply and demand in the pandemic. In addition, there was a decrease in the scale of production of the Rolex brand and the impact of the high dollar”, says Barros.
