Is it worth using part of the funds from the FGTS accounts to buy Eletrobras shares in its privatization process?
Although the history of similar offers by Vale and Petrobras weighs in favor of variable income, analysts are divided on the use of what works as an emergency reserve for the worker.
How will it work: the reserve of shares takes place from June 3rd to 8th. Interested parties may invest up to the limit of 50% of the balance. There are more than 20 funds from banks and brokers with different rates and minimum investment values.
- The worker can do everything through the FGTS application: consult available resources, authorize the administrator to consult the balance and request a reserve/debit to be invested in a Mutual Privatization Fund.
- Administration fees range from zero up until 0.8% per year and are a decisive factor in the choice. Check out the different options here.
In numbers: FGTS deposits are adjusted by the TR (Referential Rate, close to zero) plus interest of 3% per year. There is also the distribution of part of the fund’s profit. In 2019 and 2020, the yield was around 4.9%.
- Those who invested in Petrobras shares with FGTS funds in 2000 had a return of about 1,153%against 185% of the FGTS, and 289% of the IPCA until May 24, 2022.
- In the case of Vale’s shares, the appreciation from March 28, 2002 to May 24, 2022 was 3,900%before 156% of the guarantee fund and 247% of inflation. The analysis is by Genial Investimentos.
the arguments on whether or not to use the FGTS to participate in the Eletrobras offer:
- In favor: Bruce Barbosa, a partner at Nord Research, believes that Eletrobras’ appreciation potential after being privatized is more attractive than the fund’s profitability. He recommends, however, that the investment should not be more than 10% of the available balance.
- Against: Flávio Conde, head of equity analysis at Levante Investimentos, says that the shares have already appreciated in light of the prospect of privatization and that it is more prudent for investors to keep the funds guaranteed in the FGTS.
Eneva buys Celse for BRL 6.1 billion
The energy company Eneva announced on Tuesday (31) the purchase of Celse, one of the largest gas-fired thermoelectric plants in Latin America, for BRL 6.1 billion.
The agreement provides for the acquisition of 100% of the shares of Celsepar (Centrais Elétricas de Sergipe Participações) and that Eneva will assume the debts of R$ 4.1 billion of Celse, totaling the deal in BRL 10.2 billion.
Who is who:
Eneva: is the largest private natural gas operator in Brazil. The company has a thermoelectric generation park with 2.2 GW (gigawatt) of installed capacity and expects to reach 3.1 GW by 2026.
- With operations focused on the North and Northeast regions of the country, it has a model that includes everything from the exploration of natural gas to the commercialization of the generated energy.
Celse: It has a gas-fired thermoelectric plant with 1.59 gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity.
- Aimed at the regulated market (which supplies homes and most smaller companies), it has contracts valid until December 2044, with annual fixed revenue of R$1.9 billion.
The strategy: With the acquisition, Eneva creates a gas “hub” on the Brazilian coast and expands its portfolio, which had already been reinforced at the end of last year, with the purchase of Focus Energia, a renewable generation company, by BRL 715 million.
Exit Zuckerberg’s Right Hand
Sheryl Sandberg, Meta’s COO and Mark Zuckerberg’s right-hand man at the company, announced that she will leave the company after 14 years in the job.
His replacement will be Javier Olivan, who previously managed Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook. The executive said she plans to continue on the big tech board of directors.
who is the executive: she was the head behind the business and was responsible for developing the company’s advertising segment, which turned it into the giant it is today.
- Sandberg was also considered the “adult in the room” at the beginning of Facebook and helped to monetize the operations of the social network, an essential step in gaining credibility with investors.
Exit away from the peak: the executive began to lose some of her influence after the 2016 US elections, when Facebook was accused of fomenting polarization and spreading disinformation. She was in charge of the policy and security team at the time.
- According to the Wall Street Journal, Zuckerberg blamed her for the scandal involving Cambridge Analytica, that consulting firm involved in the Donald Trump campaign and which gained access to data on millions of Facebook users.
- A card-carrying Democrat and two bestselling author, Sandberg said she leaves the company to pursue other goals, such as her philanthropy projects and her foundation, Lean In.
What changes with the online registry
Brazilians will be able to solve much of the bureaucracy of notaries without leaving home after the sanction of the provisional measure approved this week by Congress.
When the proposal becomes law, establishments have until January 31, 2023 to adapt to the new rules.
Understand: MP creates a platform that promises to bring together several services in one place and also speed up procedures such as real estate registration and company recognition.
- Despite being able to access services from home, fees will continue to be paid to the local registry office. Cost savings can come from reducing intermediaries such as dispatchers.
What changes in the services:
- Standardized query: the real estate and guarantee registration documents will have the same format, which speeds up the process and reduces the possibility of errors in the procedures.
- Electronic signature: today it is only accepted with a digital certificate – which has an annual cost. With the MP, the subscription offered free of charge by gov.br will also be valid.
- Wedding: the formalization will be streamlined. The period between the entry of the papers and the qualification drops from 15 to 5 days and the celebrations can be by videoconference.
