On a tax-free day, gas stations sell gas from R$4.85

To celebrate the Tax Free Day in Brazil, celebrated this Thursday (2), more than 2,000 stores in the country are offering discounts on more than 2,500 products. In some cities, gasoline was sold from R$ 4.85 a liter.

The date, which is promoted annually by the CNDL (National Confederation of Shopkeepers) and CDL Jovem (Young Shopkeepers’ Board), has reached its 16th edition. More than 40 thousand stores participate in the action.

Organizations have created a website for companies to place products sold tax-free. On the page, it is possible to see the reduction in the final price of items ranging from bed, table and bath products to cell phones, appliances and supplements.

Fuel ran out in the early afternoon

Gasoline, which rose this year due to inflation, the rise in the dollar and the Ukrainian war, was sold tax-free in Belo Horizonte (MG), Brasília (DF), Cuiabá (MT), Manaus (AM) and Joinville (SC) , according to the CNDL, organizer of the action.

Participating gas stations put up a total of up to 34,000 liters of tax-free gasoline for sale this Thursday. In São Paulo, however, the action was not carried out, as has traditionally been the case for some years.

Gas station attendants at Jarjour 206, in Brasília (DF), informed the report that the 10,000 liters ran out at 3:00 pm. In Cuiabá (MT), the general manager of Rede Dino, Afonso Teixeira, said that the 1,000 liters at the Los Angeles gas station ran out at 1:30 pm and the other 1,000 liters at the Solaris gas station ran out at 1:12 pm.

According to CDL Jovem do Amazonas, station 3,000 in Manaus (AM) concluded the sale of 17,000 liters at 12:45 pm. In Joinville (SC), drivers were able to buy fuel without taxes at the Rede Dias gas station until 10:46 am. CDL Jovem from Belo Horizonte (MG) reported that at the Pica-Pau gas station the sale of 5,000 liters was concluded between 1 pm and 2 pm.

The value of the fuel detailed below was sold only on the Tax Free Day, until the end of stocks, which ran out until early afternoon of this Thursday (2). In some places there was a limitation on the amount of liters per vehicle.

São Paulo had no action in gas stations this year

According to CNDL and CDL Jovem, no gas station in São Paulo has informed whether it is participating in the action. The president of Sincopetro (São Paulo State’s Petroleum Derivatives Retail Trade Union), José Alberto Paiva Gouveia, said he did not know why the state’s gas stations did not participate this year.
