Panel SA: Sector sees difficulty in expanding Covid vaccine in pharmacies

by

While the pharmaceutical retail giants prepare to start applying the private version of the Covid vaccine in very few stores, the sector sees difficulties for the evolution of the model.

Edison Tamascia, president of Febrafar (Brazilian Federation of Associativist and Independent Pharmacy Networks), says that establishments need to have a room for injecting injections authorized by the health surveillance to enter the immunization service, but most stores do not meet the specifications.

“The cost of selling vaccines, which would include investment in the structure of stores, in storage and security, would not bring a satisfactory return since this is a vaccine offered free of charge”, says Tamascia.

He believes that, in a country with a strong tradition of free vaccines, it is more difficult to move forward with the immunization trade in pharmacies.
