A group of almost 300 people, which includes businessmen and economists, released a manifesto in favor of the candidacy of senator Simone Tebet (MDB-MS) for the Presidency of the Republic.
The document “The best way for Brazil” makes reference to the so-called 3rd electoral way, in opposition to the polarization around former President Lula (PT) and President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), who lead the polls for voting intentions.
“We believe that the construction of a new alternative is necessary”, affirm the signatories. Some of them had already signed a petition on behalf of the candidate at the end of May.
They also say they applaud the signaling of the MDB, Citizenship and PSDB to follow together around a single candidacy, “the best way to restore hope to all Brazilians”.
“We trust that there will be enough time for a movement that incorporates different political nuances to emerge victorious in the presidential election with a great program that consolidates Brazil in the 21st century”, says the document.
They claim that the senator is a name committed to democracy and to a national project of prosperity, social inclusion and preservation of the environment.
“A woman with the managerial capacity indispensable to pacify the country and, at the same time, the courage necessary to face the interests contrary to modernization”, they affirm. “Without leaving any Brazilian behind.”
The parliamentarian had 2% of voting intentions in the last Datafolha poll, in May. Former president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) leads the race with 48% compared to 27% for Jair Bolsonaro (PL), according to the survey.
Ciro Gomes (PDT), who is also trying to oppose the polarization between Lula and Bolsonaro, scored 7% of voting intentions in the poll.
Among the signatories are Affonso Celso Pastore, Ana Carla Abrão, Antonio Moreira Salles, Arminio Fraga, Candido Bracher, Carlos Ari Sundfeld, David Zylbersztajn, Edmar Bacha, Eduardo Mufarej, Elena Landau, Eliane Cardoso, Guilherme Leal, Horacio Lafer Piva, Luis Stuhlberger , Mailson da Nobrega, Maria Silvia Bastos Marques, Miguel Reale Junior, Paulo Hartung, Pedro Parente, Pedro Passos, Pedro Malan, Pedro Wongtschowski, Samuel Pessoa and Walter Schalka.
