Musk wants Twitter to be inspired by TikTok
In Elon Musk’s first meeting with Twitter employees since announcing his intention to buy the platform, the billionaire gave few details about the progress of the deal, indicated that the social network should have fun like Tiktok and gave a journey about the existence of aliens. .
He participated in a video conference with a question-and-answer session moderated by a Twitter executive.
The most important thing Musk said:
Future of Twitter: Musk wants to get out of the current ones 229 million of daily active users of the social network to at least one billion in a period of five to ten years.
- He also commented that he projects a need for “people rationalization” at Twitter, as the network has more costs than revenues, but said good employees shouldn’t worry.
Content Moderation: The billionaire said that users could say “shocking” things — as long as it’s within the law — but shouldn’t have those tweets go viral by the platform’s algorithm.
Adverts: The South African even said that Twitter should not display advertisements, but later said that this type of revenue will continue to be important for the company, according to the Reuters agency.
Home office: Musk said he tends to favor face-to-face work, but is not entirely against the remote model. He stated that Twitter’s situation is different from Tesla, where the type of work requires the presence of employees.
How is the negotiation? It’s been a little bit over the last few weeks. Musk has threatened to back out of the deal if he can’t verify the number of fake Twitter accounts, but the social network says it provided him with the data and wants to close the deal.
Petrobras Board reaffirms independence
The board of directors of Petrobras rejected this Thursday, in an extraordinary meeting, the government’s request to hold fuel prices.
The company is expected to announce a diesel price readjustment in the coming days.
What explains: the state-owned company has been pressured by the government to postpone the readjustment of fuel prices, which are being negotiated in the domestic market below international levels.
- At the meeting, Petrobras’ board of directors reinforced that the company’s statute gives the board the authority to define readjustments.
In numbers: the average price of diesel in Brazilian refineries was BRL 1.08 below import parity on Wednesday, while the gasoline gap was BRL 0.67 per liter. The calculations are by Abicom, which represents fuel importers.
- The value varies, ranging from BRL 0.441 per liter, in Amapá, the BRL 1,153, in Rio de Janeiro; see the impact in each state here.

- To watch “Dopesick” – on Star+
The eight-episode series, based on the book by journalist Beth Macy, shows the role of pharmaceutical Purdue Pharma and its drug OxyContin in the origin of the opioid crisis, the worst drug epidemic in US history.
The production tells how the century-old company of the Sackler family enticed doctors, health authorities and public opinion to sell its drug with a high potential for dependence, as a panacea.
Review: few works have addressed the opioid epidemic, but “Dopesick” touches on what the US refused to believe for more than two decades, writes columnist Luciana Coelho.
In addition to the economy:
- Second podcast episode tells what neighbors know about the woman in the abandoned house; listen up.
