Under strong pressure from the government and allies, the president of Petrobras, José Mauro Coelho, announced this Monday (20) his resignation. The executive had already been fired by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), but was awaiting a shareholders’ meeting to endorse his replacement.
In a statement, the company said the appointment of an interim president would be reviewed by the board of directors. The government-appointed replacement, Caio Paes de Andrade, has not yet had his name approved by the internal committee that evaluates appointments at the state-owned company.
