For August, the return of the Special Consumption Tax for motor oil to the main profession of farmers is accelerated, as announced the Minister of Rural Development and Food George Georgantas, in an informal briefing of the journalists, in the presence of the Minister of Finance Christos Staikouras.

The refund of the excise tax, totaling 60 million euros, was originally scheduled for November and concerns diesel purchased in the first half of 2022.

According to the Minister of Rural Development and Food, the platform will “open” in July in which the main occupation farmers will declare the liters of diesel they consumed until 30/6/2022. A necessary condition, according to what Mr. Georgantas said, is that the beneficiary has finalized the IACS 2022 declaration, while the evaluation and assessment of the final amount will be based on the characteristics of the IACS 2021 Declaration.

“We help the farmers when they are in the fields, at the peak of the growing season,” said the Minister of Rural Development, stressing that the return of EFK to fuel “will be 2-3 months earlier than originally planned.” .

He added that farmers will continue to receive the fuel subsidy on the pump, which will reach 15 cents per liter with VAT. “It’s a great help to all farmers.

Finally, as Mr. Georgantas underlined, at the end of June and the beginning of July, targeted measures will be announced for the payment of 100 million euros from European funds for support of the agricultural sector, emphasizing that these funds should be paid by October 30.
