American pop star Beyoncé Knowles-Carter surprised her fans with the anticipated release of the single “Break My Soul” from the yet to be released album “Renassaince”, setting social media afire with music and lyrics that, according to interpretations, deal with the anger of workers with current market conditions in the United States.

“I’ll find a new motivation / damn, they make me work so hard / At nine at work, I leave after five / And they strain my nerves, that’s why I don’t sleep at night”, sings the artist, who adds: “I just quit “.

“Beyoncé saw that it was the summer of millennial burnout, 1990s revival, and queer pride, and she decided, ‘yes, I can make a song about it,'” wrote Patu Patel, editor-in-chief of the magazine. Pitchfork music on Twitter.

The singer did not comment on the meaning of the lyrics.

The single was co-written with husband Sean Carter (Jay-Z) and samples the 1990s dance classic “Show Me Love” as well as features the song “Explode” by LGBTQ rapper Big Freedia.

The song debuted on Tidal, the streaming service which Jay-Z co-owns, and was released at midnight on June 21 on other major streaming services, with a video of the song’s lyrics posted on YouTube.
