Expensive fuel makes app drivers turn cars into billboards in the US

by

When Duana Malcolm had her Hyundai Sonata sedan “wrapped” with an advertisement, the app driver didn’t expect to get an extra $200 a month.

Malcolm is one of many app drivers in the US who are seeking additional revenue to minimize the impact of rising fuel prices as US inflation peaks in the last 40 years.

“It’s not life changing, but I know I’m going to get this every month for the next five months and it eases my worries,” she, who works in the Miami and Fort Lauderdale regions, said of her car wrapping with ad. sold by the Carvertise company.

Drivers can earn between $100 and $600 a month, depending on the ad and duration of the campaign. In addition, they can also get $100-$200 bonuses for other types of ads.

Carvertise, which pays drivers to run print ads on adhesive films, said it has seen 8% to 13% monthly growth in users over the past three months, more than it expected.

“By wrapping their cars with our customers’ ads, app drivers turn their cars into mobile billboards and get paid for what they’re already doing: driving,” said Greg Star, the company’s co-founder.

Users need to install an app and register on the platform to be part of a campaign, and the company selects drivers based on the advertiser’s target area and the driver’s driving habits.

Carvertise and rival Wrapify said they have thousands of registered app drivers and advertising customers that include EA Sports, 7-Eleven and local law firms.
