After Guimarães leaves, Caixa says internal affairs investigate case of harassment

by

Without any mention of the Pedro Guimarães case, Caixa Econômica Federal reported this Wednesday (29) that an internal investigation into harassment was opened in May and is ongoing.

According to the statement, the investigation is carried out in secrecy, within the scope of the internal affairs department, and for this reason it was not known to other areas of the bank. The note said that case reports of this nature were received through its whistleblower channel.

This Wednesday, under the accusation of sexual harassment, Guimarães left the command of the financial institution. The executive was one of the closest allies of President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

Caixa stated that it “repudiates any type of harassment”.

The accusation revealed by the Metrópoles portal this Tuesday (28) states that at least five employees say they were victims of sexual harassment by Guimarães.

In one of the reports, one of them says that a person connected to the president of the bank asked what they would do “if the president” wanted to “have sex with you?”.

A Caixa employee said in a statement to Sheet which was harassed by Guimarães. She claims to have been pulled by the neck and to have been in shock after the episode.

As part of the internal investigation, according to the Caixa note, “contacts were made with the complainant, who remains anonymous. Internal investigations were also carried out, which resulted in preliminary material, which is under evaluation”.

“The Corregedoria admitted the complaint and informed the complainant, making itself available to take his testimony, maintaining his anonymity”, said the bank.
