Panel SA: Highway concessionaires threaten to go to court against toll freeze in SP

by

After the governor of São Paulo, Rodrigo Garcia, announced the freezing of tolls this Thursday (30) to ease the rise in fuel prices in the driver’s pocket, highway concessionaires threaten to go to court.

ABCR (an association that brings together companies such as Arteris and CCR) says that the sector is highly concerned about the adoption of the measure and that the moment is still critical for companies due to the economic effects of Covid.

The entity cites concern with the expressive increase in the price of inputs and the commitments with financiers and suppliers.

“It is essential that the state implement effective measures for the immediate financial compensation of contracts, with the necessary urgency, in order to avoid a situation of economic and financial imbalance and risks to the sustainability of concessions and the execution of works and services. adoption of legal measures on the matter,” ABCR said in a statement.

Even before the decision on tolls, companies were already pressing for a review of contracts because they have been impacted by the advance in the price of oil-derived paving materials.

According to the Department of Logistics and Transport, a chamber was created with Artesp, representatives of the sector and other secretariats to discuss forms of compensation with companies and avoid breaching contracts.
