Aid Brasil of R$ 600 must be paid from August; see calendar

The Auxílio Brasil of R$600 is expected to be paid to 19.8 million families between August and December 2022, as another economic measure by President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in an attempt to win the elections.

The amount, provided for in the so-called PEC (Proposed Amendment to the Constitution) Kamikaze, rises from R$ 400 to R$ 600 on a temporary basis. For this, a state of emergency will be declared in the country. In January 2023, the value should return to the current BRL 400. The proposal has already been approved in the Senate and is awaiting approval from the House. To become effective, however, it needs to be enacted.

The registration is made at the Cras (Reference Centers for Social Assistance) of the city halls.

How will the payment be in July?

Even if the PEC is enacted this month, the forecast made by the authors of the proposal is that the largest amount will be distributed only from August, which would bring the public coffers an expense of R$ 26 billion. In July, the benefit would be R$ 400.

The Ministry of Citizenship did not say how many families will receive this month. Payment starts from the 18th, according to the end of the NIS (Social Identification Number). The delivery of the new Auxílio Brasil card is also expected in July, although there is still no exact date.

Beneficiaries may receive up to R$ 720

Whoever wins the Auxílio Brasil and is also entitled to the Auxílio Gás – around 5.7 million families today – must withdraw R$ 720 in August, October and December, as provided for in the PEC. This is because ale-gas should rise to R$120, but it is only released every two months.

The gas voucher paid by the federal government is currently 50% of the average price of a 13 kg cooking gas cylinder in the country, in the last six months, according to a survey by the ANP (Agência Nacional de Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis). The amount paid in June was R$53.

Under the PEC, the benefit would be R$ 120, paid every two months. The extra cost of the measure, implemented after a project by deputy Carlos Zaratini (PT-SP), is R$ 1.05 billion. According to the proposal, the extra amount will be valid from July 1 to December 31, 2022.

TRUCKERS WILL HAVE ASSISTANCE OF BRL 1,000

The PEC plans to pay a voucher of R$ 1,000 to truck drivers to pay for the purchase of diesel oil. The cost of the measure is R$ 5.4 billion and, for part of the sector, it should not solve the category’s problem, since the national price policy linked to the international market is what would be raising the cost of fuel.

WHO IS ENTITLED TO DIESEL AID?

The amounts must be paid to self-employed workers registered as TAC (Autonomous Cargo Carrier) by May 31 of this year at ANTT (National Land Transport Agency). The rapporteur argues that the benefit should be released regardless of the size of the vehicle. With that, van owners would also be entitled.
