Investors fear developments with natural gas in Europe and shocks in the global economy

At the lowest level for 2022 it fell Athens Stock Exchangeamid fears that the Europe from natural gas. Fears that came to be added to them about the chances that the global economy will experience a recession again after that of the pandemic.

Today’s plunge of 3.21% brought the General Index to 779.68 unitsa level that constitutes the lowest for 2022, as the previous low was set on March 8 at 789.66 points.

The day’s low was at 778.84 points and is the lowest level since February 26, 2021, with the day’s high at 808.44 points.

Turnover somewhat escaped mediocrity at €80 million, with transaction volume at 35.6 million pieces.

The Large Cap Index plunged by 3.83%, with the Mid Cap losing 2.82%.

The banking index closed at -3.80% with bank shares sinking as Eurobank lost 11.63%, Piraeus 10.89%, Alpha Bank 9.3% and National Bank 4.48%.

Lamda, PPC, Elvalhalkor lower by -4%, while the shares of Sarantis and Ellaktor managed to escape the mass sell-off, ending the session unchanged.
