With the resignation of former president of Caixa Econômica Federal Pedro Guimarães after accusations of sexual harassment, new reports have come to light. Women who made the complaints say that the top of the public bank knew about the cases – and that the secrecy of one of them would have been violated by Caixa’s internal affairs department, with the report reaching Guimarães’ assistants.
Faced with the suspicion that executives may have covered up Guimarães’ conduct, the Federal Audit Court will oversee Caixa’s policy to prevent and combat harassment.
In cases of sexual harassment, it is not uncommon for a network of people to know about the conduct of potential aggressors and keep silent. And also that the channels responsible for investigating complaints put the victims’ reports in doubt and do not take the case forward.
