Conar (National Advertising Self-Regulatory Council) recommended suspending the advertisement of a sticker with a photo of a gun sold by AliExpress.
The advertisement in question showed a revolver on a screen with images of other products such as pans and bicycles.
Conar’s conclusion was that the advertisement did not make it clear that it was a sticker and not a real weapon.
The company says it has implemented a new layer of verification, based on artificial intelligence, to identify “inconsistencies in items offered on the platform”.
