Electricity tariffs: Important differences – Ministry of Energy intervention for fixed assets

by

To see the final charge, consumers will have to subtract from the published tariffs the subsidy of 0.337 euros per kilowatt hour announced by Kostas Skrekas

Significant differences in both the kilowatt-hour charge and the fixed charge are shown in the August household electricity tariffs announced yesterday, with which the charge for energy – after subtracting subsidies – returns to the level of 15-17 cents per kilowatt hour.

To see the final charge, consumers will have to subtract from the published tariffs the subsidy of 0.337 euros per kilowatt hour announced by the Minister of Environment and Energy Kostas Skrekas, a subsidy that applies to all residences, main and non-main, for all consumption and without income criteria. From there, they will have to estimate, based on their consumption profile and the amount of fixed assets offered by each company, the tariff that suits them the most.

It is reminded that from next month the readjustment clause is abolished and consumers will be able to change supplier or supply invoice, without a “penalty” and without the right to compensation of the supplier due to withdrawal.

Government sources told APE-MPE that a new intervention in tariffs is underway, in order to deal with cases of excessive increase in fixed assets which, as they mentioned, make it difficult for consumers to compare charges (euro per kilowatt hour).

“It is inconceivable that the State has 1.1 billion euros available for consumer support and that some people try to make a profit,” a competent government agent told APE. According to the information, legislation will be filed that will force the return of fixed charges to the level they were before the change in the energy market operating mechanism.
