In the 2021 edition of the Folha-Mauá Ranking, the hybrid engine made the Toyota Corolla sedan the most economical among medium models. The result is repeated, but this time with the Japanese brand’s SUV.
The Corolla Cross Hybrid SUV recorded the best consumer marks in all measurements in its category. The 1.8 flex engine is assisted by electricity for greater efficiency, especially in urban use. Versions of this type start at BRL 198,300.
In the city, the utility reached an average of 17.7 km/l with ethanol. It is numbers of this amount that make competitors like Fiat and Volkswagen invest in the development of hybrid models capable of running on fuel from renewable sources.
In performance tests, Jeep Compass and Ford Bronco shared the top spots. While the first was the best in the acceleration and resumption tests with ethanol, the second won the measurements with gasoline.
In the sales ranking, the advantage is the jeep manufactured in Goiana (PE), which benefits from the greater production capacity of the Stellantis group.
Compass led the mid-size SUV segment in the first half, with 31,029 licensed units. Versions with a 1.3 turbo flex engine (180 hp) start at R$ 172 thousand. The Corolla Cross appears in second place, with 22,267 registrations. The data are from Fenabrave (Brazilian association of vehicle distributors).
Imported from Mexico, the Ford Bronco (R$ 266.1 thousand) had 787 units sold in the first half.
