by

Taxi drivers entitled to Taxi Assistance may receive up to R$2,000 this month. The rules for the payment of the benefit are in an ordinance of the Ministry of Labor and Welfare published this Thursday (28).

According to the document, the release of the amounts is temporary, until December, and will be done to face “the state of emergency resulting from the extraordinary and unpredictable rise in the price of oil”, according to the government’s justification for approving PEC (proposed amendment to the Constitution) which increases spending in an election year.

The amount may be lower, varying according to the number of professionals entitled to receive and the amount made available by the government.

Drivers who:

  1. Have obtained registration until May 31 of this year to practice the profession, which is issued by the competent body of the municipality in which they work
  2. Are taxi drivers holding a concession, permit, license or authorization issued by the municipal or district government to exercise the profession
  3. Are taxi drivers with authorization issued by the municipal or district government

Payment is expected to start on August 16, according to the Ministry of Labor and Pensions. See the calendar:

3rd to 6th installments between september and december

The registration of professionals able to help is being done by the municipalities. Registration started on July 25th and will continue until the 31st. Each month a new registration will be made. The reason is the departure of professionals from the rules that allow the receipt of values.

According to the ordinance, in addition to the value, the number of installments can also be adjusted according to the total number of professionals who meet the rules to receive and the amount available by the government for payment. According to the amendment, R$ 2 billion will be allocated to this benefit.

Taxi driver with irregular CPF will not receive

Taxi drivers who have an irregular CPF will not receive it. This rule includes CPFs that are suspended, cancelled, void or that are linked to someone who has died. Those who earn a pension for death also lose their right, as do professionals who receive a benefit for permanent incapacity for work, which is the old disability pension.

Data will be cross-referenced on all national bases. Anyone who is a taxi driver and is also registered as a truck driver in the Autonomous Cargo Transporters system will also not have access to the money. In this case, the professional must receive the Truck Driver Allowance of up to R$ 1,000, which starts to be paid on August 6th.

Payment will be made through digital social savings

The ordinance states that the payment of the benefit will be made by digital social savings. With this, the receipt of the amounts must occur by Caixa Tem, although this information is not specified in the document.

Caixa Tem is operated by Caixa Econômica Federal. In it, citizens can pay bills, make Pix, generate a code to withdraw money at Caixa, lottery or Caixa Aqui correspondents and buy automatic debit in physical and virtual stores that accept this type of payment.
