The São Paulo State Board of Trade hired Prodesp, a state government technology company, to digitize its entire collection of historical documents from companies registered in São Paulo since 1890, when the agency was created.
The Board estimates that 104 million pages of documents will be digitized in two years, including company opening records, social contracts and other records. By the end of this year, 30 million pages should be available on the Board’s website.
The state government hopes to save R$7 million in storage costs at the end of the digitization process, when the collection will be transferred to the State’s Public Archive.
