Panel SA: Ciesp confirms that it will not sign Fiesp’s pro-democracy letter

by

Ciesp (Center for Industries of the State of São Paulo) is preparing a note, which will be released this Tuesday (9), to declare that the entity supports democracy, but decided not to sign the manifesto in defense of the Brazilian electoral system published by Fiesp in last week.

The gesture comes after Fiesp released the manifesto “In Defense of Democracy and Justice” last week with almost 110 signatures, but Ciesp did not appear among the signatories, which was interpreted by industry segments as a sign of misalignment with Fiesp, today under the command of businessman Josué Gomes.

Josué is also part of the Ciesp board, as first vice president, but the entity is chaired by Rafael Cervone Netto.

“The Ciesp clarifies that it is an institution entirely in favor of democracy, legal security, freedom and that it works in full harmony with Fiesp”, says the note.

The decision to publicly position itself was taken by Ciesp after a meeting of the entity this Monday (8).

“Also in a democratic spirit and listening to the opinions of its directors in the 42 regional offices, it chose not to sign the manifestos, respecting the autonomy and will of the thousands of associates it represents in the state of São Paulo,” the statement said.
